AU Mandate to Promote Youth Volunteerism

At the Continental Level, AUC has the mandate to promote Youth Volunteerism at National, Regional and Continental levels as means to promote youth civic participation, empowerment and leadership towards achieving the objectives of Agenda 2063. AUC works closely with partner organization and various stakeholders to promote volunteerism in Africa and globally.

African Union
  • Standardize a common African Youth Volunteer Policy Framework;
  • Provide oversight in the implementation of policies & programs;
  • Provide Technical support to RECs & MS;
  • Manage Continental Coordination Unit;
  • Implement Continental Volunteer Program;
  • Continental Reporting;
  • Joint resource mobilization & partnership
RECs
  • Harmonize and implement policies within REC in line with continental framework;
  • Implement REC Volunteer Program(s);
  • Coordinate implementation at MS levels;
  • Monitoring and reporting within the region;
  • Joint advocacy & resource mobilization;
Member State
  • Harmonize national volunteer policy with continental policy framework;
  • Implement National Volunteer Program(s);
  • Provide resources for implementation of volunteer programs;
  • Provide regular report and feedback to REC and the AUC;
Partners
  • Contribute Technical and Financial Support at National, Regional and Continental levels;
  • Promote youth volunteerism across the continent in line with the continental framework;
